Urge Congress to Speak Out on Arbitrary Detention in Sri Lanka

Take Action On This Issue

Hundreds of people are languishing in prison in Sri Lanka. They haven't been charged with any crime or given a trial. Many detainees are tortured in custody; some have been killed. The Sri Lankan government has used its security laws to arbitrarily detain outspoken, peaceful critics, including journalists.

This fall, Sri Lanka's human rights record will be under scrutiny at the U.N. Human Rights Council. We have a chance to expose Sri Lanka's shameful record of detention without trial. Please send an online letter to your Senators and Representatives asking them to publicly urge the Administration to raise Sri Lanka's unlawful detention practices at the U.N.
