Tell Chevron to clean up Amazon contamination
For over four decades, multinational oil companies have cut richly biodiverse Amazon forests in search of petroleum resources. Texaco (later acquired by Chevron) was responsible for dumping 19 billion gallons of toxic wastewater into the Ecuadorian Amazon contaminating water, killing wildlife and wreaking havoc on these important native ecosystems. Even worse, those defenders who stand up to speak out have been threatened.
Free Tibetan Filmmaker Dhondup Wangchen
Dhondup Wangchen, a Tibetan filmmaker, was sentenced on December 28 in Qinghai Province to six years' imprisonment for "inciting separatism" after a secret trial by Xining City Intermediate Court.
