WANTED: Activist 2.0

Are you addicted to surfing the web? Do you spend your free time with your laptop at a café? Then this job just might be for you!

Amnesty International is looking for a few good volunteer leaders to pioneer a new world of internet advocacy and social networking. Join an elite group of slightly geeky and incredibly passionate human rights activists as they storm the web with the latest human rights information and actions. As an Activist 2.0, each month you’ll focus on one theme, promoting the issue and relevant actions to various outlets, including:

1. Social networks like MySpace and Facebook – recruit friends to the Amnesty Cause and distribute notes to your friends that include blurbs and links to actions.
2. Blogs – promote the monthly issue on your own personal blog, or by submitting comments and diaries on top tier blogs (we’ll be looking for folks who are particularly interested in setting up diary space on MyDD, DailyKos and SmirkingChimp). We’ll supply you with blog badges and other widgets as they’re created to support our priority campaign work.
3. Social bookmarking sites – create accounts on Reddit, Digg and StumbleUpon and start bookmarking pages you like. Every once in a while, we’ll ask everyone to bookmark an exceptional Amnesty article or report to help create more buzz for the issue and our work.

Don’t worry; you don’t have to do everything. You can pick and choose those activities you like best. We’ll provide all the resources you'll need. We’ll also send you tips and tactics via email and will let you know when our elite internet advocacy force successfully takes down the bad guy!
