Your imagination is the limit for taking human rights action from your smart phone to the streets. Show us what INSPIRES you to take ACTION for HUMAN RIGHTS on your campus or in your community. Here's what you have to do:

  1. Take a photo with you phone, ipad, or camera.      
  2. Upload your photo to Facebook and tag the Amnesty International Mid-West Office Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/amnestychicago
  3. Share your contact information and paste the link to your uploaded photo below.

Contest Description:
The Snap Riot Digital Photo Contest is open to high school and undergraduate students in the Greater Chicagoland Area, including the following counties: Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, McHenry, and Will Counties. Capture a photo that inspires you to take action in support of human rights on your campus or in your community. Live or staged content is accepted and you are allowed to use Instagram to enhance your photo. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  1. Freedom of Expression: Take a picture of someone speaking up for human rights on your campus, a sculpture that represents protest, or a Pussy Riot solidarity action.
  2. Immigrants Rights are Human Rights: Snap a photo of a classmate affected by the DREAM Act.
  3. Right to Education: Take a photo of a classmate completing a project for school or design a solidarity card to send to Malala Yousufzai and take a picture of the card.
  4. Violence Against Women: Design a poster, sign, or infographic that speaks out on violence against women and take a picture of it.

Three grand prize winners will receive one new iPad, a one year membership to Amnesty International and have the option of appearing in a short video ad for Amnesty International in Chicago. Winning photos will be displayed at the Uri-Eichen art gallery in Chicago, beginning on December 14th, in honor of International Human Rights Week. Grand prize winners will also have the option of receiving a $1000 stipend to start a new Amnesty International or human rights group on their campus or to cultivate an existing group.
